Fruit and Cheese Plate

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. This fruit and cheese plate is a right on example.

I always struggled with the issue of whether or not to make special meals for the kids. I never wanted to be a short-order cook, but I also strongly feel that there should always be one or two foods on the table the kids will enjoy. Since I also dust to fulfil only "kid food," I needed a solution.

Enter the fruit print! It’s tasty, nutritious and even if the kids don’t of a piece with anything else I’ve cooked that night, they can fill up on the fruit plate.INGREDIENTS:1 loaf fresh Italian bread or French bread or crackers1 bunch grapesstrawberries, apple slices (optional)cheddar cheese slices (such as Cracker Barrel cheese cuts)jarlsburg, swiss, gruyere or gouda cheesePREPARATION:Slice bread. Arrange on a large plate.
Wash grapes, slice apples and trim strawberries. Cut cheese into bite-size pieces (if it isn’t already pre-sliced.
Arrange fruit and cheese all about the bread. Serve immediately.

Helpful Hints: Choose fruit that’s in season.
Serve this regularly with meals, so the kids know there’s always something on the table they can fill up on if they don’t like anything else.
Try new types of cheeses and fruits, such as brie or kiwi, but sanction sure the kids have enough of the fruits and cheeses they already like on the plate.
See this as a tool of freedom that allows you to cook the foods you want to have a bite, while still ensuring your kids have something they enjoy. This should unshackle you from suggesting, cajoling, bribing or forcing your kids to eat foods they may not yet be ready to try.
Don’t comment on what they do or don’t devour. You may be on a low carb diet, but your kids needn’t be forced to forgo bread. Let them choose the foods they like, and they bequeath be better tuned in to the nutrients their bodies poverty.
