"How diverse of them are there?" Locke asks.

"Maybe six," Miles says. "I’m not sure."
"What do you property you ain’t sure?" Sawyer says. "You came over on the same yacht with them, didn’t you?"
"They told me they were just care."
"Security for what?" Locke asks.
"For him." He points to Ben. "Once they got him, to escort him back to the mainland."
Ben says, "Well, Miles, it looks like you’re not going to collect your 3.2 million dollars."
Miles holds out the walkie talkie. "Just take it."
"Why would I talk to them?" Ben says.
"Because they be struck by a hostage."
"Well then they badly miscalculated, ‘cause every single one of my people is prepared to die as a service to this island."
"It’s your daughter!"
Ben snaps his head to look at Miles, then takes the walkie talkie. "Hello," he says.
Over the walkie, the man says, "Am I speaking with Benjamin Linus?"
"That’s right."
"My name is Martin Keamy. I’m an employee of Charles Widmore."
"Who’s Charles Widmore?" Sawyer whispers.
"Later," Locke says.
On the walkie, "I want you to go look out your east window. We’ll talk about this face to face."
Ben goes to the window and Keamy tells him to look to the left-wing. He sees Keamy standing there.
"Alright, Mr. Linus, these are my terms. You’re going to eccentric out the front door and put your hands above your head. Then you’re going to walk straight to me. Once I beget you in my custody, then I promise you that no one else in that house will be harmed."
"You and I both cognizant of that once you have me, there’s nothing to stop you from killing everybody else on this island."
"What considerate of guy do you think I am?"
"Martin Christopher Keamy, preceding premier sergeant United States Marine Corp. Served with distinction from 1996 to 2001, but since then, you’ve worked with a number of mercenary organizations, specifically in Yuganda. "Okay, Ben, you got it." He whistles and another man brings Alex over. Her hands are bound and she’s crying. Her eyes meet Ben’s.
Keamy says, "Get your ass out here right now, or I’m going to kill your daughter."
Ben takes a mo to think, then says, "I’d like to present a counter proposal."
"I’m listening."
"You and your friends accouter e come around, walk back to your helicopters, you slide by away and forget you ever heard of this island."
"Tell your daughter goodbye." Keamy hands the phone to Alex.
"Dad," she says, "they’re serious. They killed Karl, and my mother."
"Alex, I contain this under control. Everything is usual to be okay."
"Please, Daddy," she says.
Keamy takes the walkie back and says, "You give birth to 10 seconds, Ben."
"Okay, listen," Ben says.
"Nine."
"She’s not my daughter," Ben says.
"Eight."
"I stole her as a baby from an insane woman. She’s a pawn, nothing more. She means nothing to me."
Alex cries harder and Ben struggles to keep his composure. "I’m not coming out of this house," he says. "So if you destitution to kill her, go ahead and do-"
Keamy shoots Alex, then walks away. Ben is horrified. He stares at Alex’s body crumpled on the ground.
"I don’t see him," Sawyer says to Locke. "He righteous left her body and disappeared into the jungle."
"He won’t be gone for long," Locke says, "it’s going to be dark in about 20 minutes and then they’re going to come fit him."
"Let’s just hand him over," Sawyer says.
"I don’t think these people have any intention of letting us walk out of here bustling, James, no matter what we do."
"Well I ain’t got no intention of dying."
"He changed the rules," Ben says.
"What? Who?" Locke asks. "What rules?"
Sawyer gets Locke’s attention. "You know I’m right. Our best chance here is to throw him out and fend inasmuch as ourselves."
Ben moves the bookshelf and goes into the secret room. Sawyer chases after him, but a metal door slides down to block his path. Sawyer beats on the door. "Open this damn door!"
